HEPHAESTUS is pleased to report its successful participation in the 11th International Conference on Environmental Management, Engineering, Planning and Economics (CEMEPE), held jointly with the SECOTOX Conference from June 16 to 20, 2024, on the island of Lefkada, Greece.
During the event, Stylianos Tampouris, Research and Development Manager of LARCO (project partner based in Greece), presented a novel leaching approach developed for the treatment of dust samples from the LARCO Ferronickel plant. His presentation highlighted an innovative method aimed at addressing the environmental challenges posed by industrial residues, contributing to more sustainable metallurgical practices. This work represents an important milestone in the ongoing efforts of the HEPHAESTUS project to advance environmentally responsible technologies in heavy industry.
CEMEPE 2024 brought together scientists, professionals, and policymakers from around the world to exchange ideas and explore solutions to pressing environmental issues. The conference was organized by the Division of Hydraulics and Environmental Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in collaboration with SECOTOX and other leading academic institutions in Greece.
HEPHAESTUS is proud to have been represented at such a high-level international forum and remains committed to supporting research and innovation in the field of sustainable metallurgy and environmental management.
